About this deal

The follow-up track " American" heavily integrates Americana references in its lyrics, and employs minimalist piano and string instrumentation that Sian Watson from Associated Press felt placed the "smoky, effortless vocals" at the forefront of the song.

It's worth noting, however, that this seems not to be a feature of the LP, but of the album mastering in general. A1-A3 plays without problems, and entire side B and C also plays pretty much perfectly, although there are some minor pops even after a thorough cleaning (the horrible paper innersleaves really does no good for the discs, must be replaced immediately). info/album/view/90708 The audio level issues is not a deal breaker for me because I digitize my records and mostly listen to them from my PC, which allows me to correct the audio levels in the process, but I can understand people who listen to the record directly finding this annoying. Now this copy did have a lot more popping, but i think its because it had paper on it fro the sleeve. Both discs have distracting surface noise, are warped, and have vocal distortion on the tracks nearer the inner groove, something which my 1LP (6 songs/side) doesn’t have. Although a specific charting position was not released, The Paradise Edition was certified gold by the Syndicat National de l'Édition Phonographique in France. I think this is the version I have, but I'm not sure, because the matrix numbers does not match those listed above (my C-side has 010417121-A-4 and JI etched in it, and D-side has 010417121-B-3), it was bought in Europe spring 2023 and has the "Made in Poland" stamp on the back. Plus, which isn't really noted, the slipcase itself has a cardboard insert, which makes the overall package feel like a double album.

It's dead quiet and has literally zero pops right out of the bag after only a cleaning with a normal carbon brush. Having charted separately from Born to Die and Paradise throughout much of Europe, the record performed moderately on international record charts. For whatever reason, this side suffers a lot more than the other sides, even though this side only as three tracks and thus should be less prone to inner groove distortion.

While the project was not directly supported by singles of its own, the tracks " Ride" and " Burning Desire" were released from Paradise on September 25, 2012, and March 13, 2013, while " Dark Paradise" was serviced from Born to Die on March 1, 2013. Likely to be a more recent repress than the 2017 deluxe edition release of Born To Die, due to updated runouts in sides C and D.
