In April 2016, Worsley published her debut children's novel, Eliza Rose, about a young noble girl in a Tudor Court. [24] [25] In 2017, Worsley published a biography of Jane Austen titled Jane Austen at Home: A Biography. [26] Despite one of the biggest murder inquiries in Britain, no one has been brought to justice for the killing. Lady Killers with Lucy Worsley to return for second season". bbc.co.uk/mediacentre . Retrieved 14 March 2023. Worsley also wrote the young-adult book Lady Mary, [27] a history-based book that details the life of Mary I, daughter of Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon; it follows her as a young Princess Mary during the time of the divorce of Mary's parents. I absolutely love how the author weaves details of the science of the times into these tales. That time was such an important one for the science and achievements we have today and all of that is seamlessly woven into the story.

The novel boasts a colourful secondary cast, including Charlotte’s two wards, Hawk and Raven (aka the Weasels) her housekeeper, McLellan, who is as much bodyguard as she is servant, Wrexford’s friend Kit Sheffield and his valet/assistant, Tyler; and they’re joined by the formidable Dowager Marquess of Peake, Charlotte’s aunt, a wonderfully forthright and shrewd lady I hope we’ll meet again in future books. Owens, Mitchell (1 June 2012). "Kensington Palace's New Look". Architectural Digest . Retrieved 6 September 2020.Though he was acquitted of this offence inn June 1981, George was convicted of assaulting another woman. Third in the series. A good but not great mystery, which for me is how this series tends to go. I was going to give this 3 stars (my usual, default rating), but after writing my thoughts out, I've demoted it to 2.

During February and March 2020 the first series of Royal History's Biggest Fibs with Lucy Worsley was shown on BBC Four; the three-part series discovers how the history of The Reformation, The Spanish Armada and Queen Anne and the Union have been manipulated and mythologised. [20]

Four months after the wedding, Miss Toide went to the police claiming George had assaulted her. He was arrested and charged on October 29 1989, but the case was dropped before it reached court. Worsley has published a number of books, many guides to houses and the like. Courtiers: The Secret History of the Georgian Court (2011) is her most recent work on history. In 2014, BBC Books published her book, A Very British Murder, which was based on the series. [23] I stumbled on this series a couple of years ago and instantly fell in love. I loved how sassy and sardonic Wrexford is and even if Mrs Sloane is overly pig headed at times, she’s independent and sassy and I can’t get enough of them together! Now, here's the problem I have with Charlotte Sloane's character, especially in this outing: she's completely torn up about her cousin's death and the other cousin being arrested for the crime. She's so torn up about it in fact, that she makes sillier choices than usual and gives up her anonymity to rejoin "high" society, supposedly so she can interact with the female suspects. (And, by the way, this sacrifice turns out to be unnecessary because Wrexford and Sheffield already know the main female suspect and have several dealings with her throughout the story.)

In the weeks before George was arrested, the murder squad gathered for a pep talk. At that stage there was no sign of a breakthrough and the team was under pressure. Det Supt Campbell reminded officers they could only investigate to the best of their abilities and hoped they were not down-hearted. His reaction to this earned him a criminal record. Using the Met's headed paper, he made a false warrant card and began posing as a police officer, claiming he was a detective based in Hammersmith.Queen Victoria: Twenty-Four Days That Changed Her Life (U.S.ed.). St. Martin's Press. ISBN 9781250201423. So when I finally saw this one on Netgalley I begged to read it! I couldn’t wait and read it in a couple of fast sittings! In 2011, Worsley presented the four-part television series If Walls Could Talk, exploring the history of British homes, from peasants' cottages to palaces; and the three-part series Elegance and Decadence: The Age of the Regency. In 2012 she co-presented the three-part television series Antiques Uncovered, with antiques and collectibles expert Mark Hill, [13] and (broadcast at the same time) Harlots, Housewives and Heroines, a three-part series on the lives of women after the Civil War and the Restoration of Charles II. [14] Later that year she presented a documentary on Dorothy Hartley's Food in England as part of the BBC Four "Food and Drink" strand.
