Build and design When we reviewed the NR1710 we were very pleased that Marantz was able to offer such a quality product in such a small form and this seems to continue on their smaller model also. The NR1510 may be the weakest of them all but quality and design wise is on par with the company’s standards.

The included microphone analyzes your room’s acoustics and sets up the most optimal speaker configuration. Supports dual subwoofers for even, low-frequency bass response within your listening environment. Enjoy accurate bass with no audible peaks or dips no matter where you place your subwoofer.

HDR10+: HDR10+ is an HDR video technology that adds dynamic metadata to HDR10 source files. The dynamic metadata are used to adjust brightness levels on a scene-by-scene or even frame-by-frame basis. HDR10+ supports maximum of 10,000 nits peak brightness and 10-bit or more (up to 16-bit) color bit depth. It uses Samsung's dynamic metadata defined in SMPTE ST 2094-40. Dual-band Wi-Fi and ethernet means you get fast and capable streaming options via the HEOS platform. Dedicated buttons for useful features like dimming and sound mode eliminate browsing tedious menus. Stream audio from your favourite music services like Apple Music and Spotify or watch videos from services like YouTube and Netflix from any iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple TV. Hear the audio perfectly synced to your speakers from AirPlay 2 sources.

Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM): Auto Low Latency Mode enables the ideal latency setting to automatically be set allowing for smooth, lag-free and uninterrupted viewing and interactivity. When the receiver detects a gaming signal it will enter ALLM. The signal will also be sent to the TV causing it to automatically switch to a low-latency, low-lag mode for gaming. Some functions will not be available on the receiver and TV during ALLM. Measuring 17.3 x 14.9 x 6.9 inches, the Marantz NR1510 is compact enough to fit anywhere in the home or office. In addition, it weighs only 18.1 pounds, making it incredibly lightweight – a perfect combination of size and weight; this item is sure to fit right into your daily lifestyle! The NR1711 is an easy receiver to appreciate. It’s characteristically warm, rather than clinically sharp, and really comes into its own with multi-channel and immersive sound mixes.

Up to 32 HEOS units can be set up at one time, ensuring even the largest of homes are covered for multi-room music. With HEOS already built-in, the NR1510 is ready to go as a single 'zone' without any further adaptors. I'm not sure what speaker options are available to you, but within Mission's lineup, you could look at the LX-C center channel or use another LX-2 standing upright as a center. However, I'm not sure that they count as small and/or inexpensive. Marantz NR1510 UHD AV Receiver – Slim 5.2 Channel Home Theater Amplifier, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD... As for it’s wireless capabilities the NR1510 has been updated the same way we saw the NR1710 was. As such it also supports dual band WiFi (IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n) but this time it uses the updated Bluetooth 4.1 instead of the Bluetooth 3.0 + EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) that the NR1509 was using meaning that we get better and more stable Bluetooth connections when streaming.

With HEOS and Alexa, you can stream to this product and any other product with HEOS Built-in. Google Assistant Voice Control Ease of use is a major facet of the NR1710, in fact. The step-by-step setup process is brilliant, and the (online) user manual clear but detailed. Take time to rename your sources, hide ones not used from the front display, and create up to four Smart Select modes (which automatically switch to a source, volume level and sound mode), and the UX is even better. There are a couple more extra features that are worth mentioning with one of them being custom integration support for both Ihiji Invision and Domotz Pro, a feature that we were seeing mostly on higher ends models and now seems to be supported in all units in their lineup. Lastly there is HDMI-CEC which allows you control the receiver through the TV remote and thus lower the number of remotes needed to use in your home cinema. By turning the Smart Menu on, on the receiver you can use the TV remote to navigate through a set of menus especially created for this reason and allow you to change many of the unit’s functions. Other 2019 talents are Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization, eARC functionality and (via a firmware update that should land very soon) Bluetooth
headphone support. You may do a manual setup when manually establishing the speakers or adjusting settings in Audyssey® Setup. Along with the main Audyssey system there are a couple of extra features that come with it with one being the Dynamic EQ that keeps the dynamic levels as well as clarity even at low volume while the second is Dynamic Volume that balances sudden volume spikes when there are shifts between TV programs and commercials. This trio of systems is the most basic version you will find in any Marantz AV receiver but it is enough for some basic calibration. Unfortunately one thing we are missing here is the Audyssey MultEQ Editor App that can be used with higher end models for more thorough calibrations as it is not supported in the NR1510. Variable Refresh Rate (VRR): VRR enables a gaming source such as a console or computer to deliver video frames as fast as it can, which in many cases is slower than the normal static refresh rate. It allows the TV to adapt to certain frame rate which reduces or eliminates lag, judder and frame tearing for more fluid and better detailed gameplay.
