Learn more about Cricut materials with my tutorials for how to cut leather, how to cut chipboard on a Cricut, how to cut wood with the Maker’s knife blade, and how use Infusible Ink on coaster blanks! What is the Cricut EasyPress Mat and Do I need one? Temperature button: To set a temperature, simply press this button and use the + or – to get to your desired temperature. It has the power to apply iron-on within 60 seconds or less. It is fast, efficient, and offers top quality when applying an iron-on vinyl or HTV ( Heat transfer Vinyl, as other brands call it) and sublimation (with Cricut Infusible ink projects)The EasyPress 2 is a companion to the Cricut cutting machine, and it makes transferring iron-on vinyl and Infusible materials way easier. I’m going to be totally honest with you—if you only do a few heat transfer or iron-on projects a year, you probably don’t need an EasyPress or EasyPress 2. But if you do a lot of crafting work, this bad boy will up your quality while also saving you time. And if you sell your products, you need a heat press to ensure uniform, professional results across your projects. It’s soft but stiff, providing the perfect flat surface to press on. It eliminates moisture and directs heat where it needs to go: evenly dispersed across your project. And it also protects your work surface from the heat. Today I’m sharing the complete guide to using your Cricut EasyPress to complete beautiful, professional-looking iron-on and heat transfer projects in your own home. Cricut’s EasyPress line combines the speed, accuracy, and reliability of a professional heat press with the approachability of an iron. If you are considering an EasyPress 2 to start an online tee business, I would actually encourage you to look for a professional heat press.

All Cricut iron-on products can be used in layering, but Cricut recommends using some materials as final layers only: foil, glitter, holographic, and holographic sparkle iron-on. Additionally, SportFlex Iron-On should be layered on top of other SportFlex Iron-On only—that’s from Cricut. I’ve never worked with SportFlex. For best results, don’t include more than four layers on designs. Before having an EasyPress 2, I thought that I didn’t need one, that my iron would do just fine. And if you are only making small things for yourself, I don't think the price tag justify for you to get one. With all this talk about distributing even heat, you might be wondering if you can work with a design that is bigger than the EasyPress or EasyPress 2 surface area. The answer is yes, you can! Max temperature: The EasyPress 2 has a max temp of 400 degrees, compared to the original’s max temp of 350.

If you are a serious crafter, chances are you are already considering one and all I have to say is GO FOR IT! When selecting the size, think about the kind of projects you will be making the most and choose the size that would make those projects easier. Cricut EasyPress 9 x 9 inches: This is the medium size and weighing only 5.7lb it’s the perfect size for most projects and probably the most recommend if you are an EasyPress newbie. It works perfectly for projects like: The EasyPress 2 heats up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit which makes it perfect to use with infusible ink products since you need constant, spread-up high heat for the transfer to be successful. If you are starting to do more gifts that require heat transfers, or are dipping your toes in to selling tees, the EasyPress is a good stepping stone into professional heating press equipment.

Use the Cricut Heat Guide or Cricut Heat app (for Cricut EasyPress 3) to determine project settings. Also, if you are looking for alternative places to look for designs, I have an entire section of my studio dedicated to hand-lettered SVG files =] Once you think about it, it makes sense because you don't want any wrinkles or moisture before pressing, and preheating takes care of that for you.
