About this deal

BLTouch / 3DTouch sensors are mechanical, so they are not affected by heat, humidity or the type of material on your printing surface. Even though paying attention to these two factors for configuring the start G-code will ensure that your BLTouch will run and automatically level the bed before each print, the code won’t be fully optimized, which we will cover next. How to Optimize the BLTouch Start G-Code? Remove the LCD connector out of its housing to gain access to the pins next to it. The LCD connector is the wide strip of gray wires. According to ANTCLABS, the original manufacturer of the probe, “BLTouch is an auto leveling sensor for 3D printers that can precisely measure the tilt of (sic) bed surface.” This sensor works on any type of bed surface, be it metal, glass, wood, or something else entirely. Although inserting a jumper over the X-DIAG and Y-DIAG pins enables the hardware side of the sensorless homing. But further configuration will be required within the 3D printer’s firmware.

A simple command to disable all of the stepper motors. Additionally, if you wish to disable a specific motor/s, add the axis after the M18 G-Code command. For example, M18 X E0 would disable the X-axis and the first extruder motor. M18 ; Disable all stepper motors Extruder steps calibration

Adjust the Z-offset down a little at a time to avoid running the nozzle into your print bed and damaging it.

In a sense, this sensor is equivalent to a microswitch, mounted on a servo arm, controlled by a servo motor. When the tool head lowers to “home” the nozzle in the Z-axis, the bed pushes the pushpin slightly upwards, triggering the hall sensor, at which point the pushpin retracts and the tool head raises. First appearing in 2015, the BLTouch by Antclabsis an add-on electrical component for a 3D printer that uses a sensor stem to detect any tilt in the bed surface. It’s built to use very little power at idle and use so that it can be installed directly in the Ender 3’s motherboard, without any heat issues. As the BLTouch can blink red in two different ways, the most vital part of the fixing process is to recognize the pattern to ensure that you apply the correct solution. Fixing BLTouch Blinking Red SlowlyBecause you’ll be using the BLTouch to level your Ender 3 V2’s bed and setting the Z-axis manually, you won’t need the limiter switch. Additionally, installing a TFT touchscreen to the SKR Mini E3 V3 is another easy step, especially if the TFT is from Bigtree-Tech. However, the wiring orientation must match the SKR Mini E3 V3. Before you close it up, note the version of your mainboard (4.2.2 or 4.2.7). It’s written in the center of your mainboard. In my printer I use a leveling function available in Marlin 2 called BABYSTEPPING. This function allows me to calibrate the height of my leveling sensor in the center of the bed once with a sheet of paper. Today, our topic will be the configuration and optimization of start and end G-codes to activate the auto bed leveling process with a BLTouch as optimally and efficiently as possible, which will ensure that your build plate is level before each print.

With regards to precision, it’s been able to measure within a range of a thousandth of a millimeter, which is what 3D printers need. The Ezabl Pro also comes with helpful features like dual shielding, which prevents any interference with other signals. As executing the G28 command disables bed leveling as a side-effect, running the G29 command after G28 ensures that both the auto home and the bed leveling (with BLTouch) procedures are successful. Recently a colleague sent me a BLTouch / 3DTouch sensor from the Geeetech brand. I usually use optical infrared sensors for my printers, but I wanted to try the BLTouch sensors since none had fallen yet by my hands. So I got down to work for Configure BLTouch with BabyStepping in the last Marlin available today and satiate my curiosity. Plug the cable into the designated space for Z-sensors in the motherboard. Depending on which extension cable you use, it is either one connector or two that you have to plug in. The result is the same: the colored cables must be in the same place (see picture).define Z_SAFE_HOMING_X_POINT ((X_BED_SIZE) / 2) // X point for Z homing when homing all axes (G28).
