About this deal

Many of the delay and echo effects can sound very ethereal. In some cases, your guitar no longer sounds like a guitar. The Zoom can turn your guitar into a huge, swelling synth sound or a low rumble of reverb tails. This is no downsized GE300, however, and that becomes apparent while delving into the effects selection. There’s a reasonable selection, but you’re limited in terms of tweaking: each effect offers only three or four parameters, which limits your choice when it comes to modulations. We’d recommend avoiding the shonky pitch shifter, but the delays and reverbs are stellar, if a bit vanilla. The Zoom G1X Four is made out of plastic. While the construction feels sturdy, you cannot compare to MOOER’s beautiful brushed steel faceplate and metal buttons.

There are two footswitches for cycling through presets, but holding the left activates a built-in tuner, while keeping your foot on the right activates the 80-second looper. user slots to load in your favorite 3rd party IR files to recreate the dynamics and feel of a real tube amp. While most small FX units work on amp modeling solely, with the effects being almost an afterthought, Zoom puts effects first. This means that the myriad of sounds you can get from this pedal are all high quality.

The visual editor shows all of your effects for each patch that you create, and lets you set your own effects chain. All you have to do is pull an effect from a drop down menu, and add it to your patch. Zoom Guitar Lab Software

It will take a few minutes to finish. After the update is done, GE150 will be rebooted. You can open the editor software after GE150 boots up.Sure, there are a few that seem superfluous and redundant. But the sounds that mattered, Mooer positively nailed. Especially the high gain sounds like a 5150, Mesa, Marshall, or Bogner. There is simply no comparison to the Zoom. If we needed convincing that the Mooer GE150 offered outstanding value for money, even a cursory trawl through the 200 presets onboard did the job. It is indeed scaled down from the GE300's slate, with around half as many models on offer, but we think we have the cream of the crop here, and certainly more than enough to satisfy the vast majority of players. Supports Third-Party Impulse Response Files – 26 User Slots in Total Allow You to Load in Your Favourites Usually only found in the more expensive processors, this unit can act as a recording interface. This means you can use the USB port into your computer to record your guitar with your favorite DAW. This is helpful for people that do not have a huge home setup for recording.

The Effects: While Zoom doesn’t really have any specific amp sims that are wow-worthy, what it does have, is effects for days. The G1X Four has reverb, delay, distortion, and all kinds of modulation effects. These all sound really pristine, using 64 bit CD sample quality. There’s a bank of noise suppressors and noise gates and then a bank of “EQ” effects allowing you to balance the EQ to achieve your desired tone. Following on is an extensive collection of modulation effects such as; flanger, phaser, chorus, whammy, jet flanger, and wah. These are fun to play with and gain experience with these different types of effects. I mostly stook to the wah and assigned it to the foot pedal so that I could control it during a performance. Zoom is known to make most of their affordable units out of ABS plastic. For some people, this makes Zoom hard to take seriously as it feels like a very expensive toy in the hands. The MOOER amp sims are not only good quality, but very convincing even to the most discerning ears. I was completely blown away by all of MOOER’s amp models.

Pitch Step

Where the GE150 really shines is its amp simulations, there are 55 different types ranging from vintage classics to modern powerhouses. They are some of the best simulations I’ve seen in a floor unit at this price point and are a far cry away from Amp Sims from a few years earlier. The majority of which are useable and adjustable. The Cab Sims do a decent job of recreating various guitar cabinets, and you have the ability to turn them on and off depending on what you’re outputting through. Press and hold both footswitches, power on the GE150. Release the footswitches after the Update is displayed on the screen. That being said, you can also mimic other instruments! The Zoom allows you to use your electric guitar to say, emulate an acoustic guitar sound. The modulation can create vibrant and full sounding tones.
