About this deal

The reader, I feel needs to take into consideration that the four books in the set do not comprise a single story, as is already put forth by the writer at the beginning of Book II, III, and in the valediction of Book IV. Being written in a span of thirty years, and without planning for any sequels, it isn't easy to maintain proper continuity and consistency within any of the books. I would prefer to be optimistic, that the presence of these books in my life is better than not having the writer to have ever written them. :D

It appears that the monolith in this book cannot communicate faster than the speed of light, either! Poole, along with a team of scientists, embarks on a mission to explore the galaxy and discover new life forms. Along the way, they encounter various challenges and obstacles, including hostile alien races, malfunctioning technology, and the threat of annihilation at the hands of a powerful AI entity. is the 4th and final volume in Arthur C. Clarke’s “Odyssey” series, starting with “2001”. The other 2 books are “201o - Odyssey 2” and “2061 - Odyssey 3”. I have to admit to not having read the middle 2 books, but since Arthur C. Clarke himself regarded this group of novels as not a linear series, or even sequential in the traditional sense, this did not seem to matter. The author tells us we should view the book as having some of the same characters and situations, with “variations on the same theme…. but not necessarily happening in the same universe.” Hmm. In his exciting new novel, Clarke reveals the ominous answer about the ultimate purpose of the monoliths.” — Daily Telegraph This book could have been good. The story is reasonably interesting and the idea that Frank Poole might be woken up from his deep freeze offers some interesting plot possibilities.Hope we will achieve that society from 31 century. (Clarke seems to think so in other of his books, there is always some kind of Utopia there) And because, in all the Galaxy, they had found nothing more precious than Mind, they encouraged its dawning everywhere. They became farmers in the fields of stars; they sowed, and sometimes they reaped. And sometimes, dispassionately, they had to weed. Maravillosas proyecciones de cómo podría ser la humanidad y sus logros tecnológicos dentro de mil años. Quizá demasiado buenismo y confianza en el hombre, me parece a mi, pero bueno, de ilusiones también se vive. Oh, My Gods!: In place of "God", the people of 3001 say "Deus", example: "By Deus - It's full of stars!". Frank notices how everyone cringes when he says "God".

Being wr Portal Crossroad World: The Star Gate leads to a hub system at the center of the galaxy with portals leading everywhere else. I took 3001 on vacation because I wanted a fun, fast, mildly interesting read. It fit the bill wonderfully... it wasn't so complicated that I had to focus on it like a final exam, but it wasn't cotton candy either. That being said, you may be disappointed if you carry a lot of expectations about anything associated with the original 2001. "3001" is an engaging look at a possible future, but it most likely won't become a science fiction classic. After traversing the ever expanding story arc of 2001, 2010, and 2061, the finale was a supreme letdown and major disappointment. Part of the tragedy lies in the evolution of science fiction writing itself. Contemporary sci-fi writers are much more nuanced, subtle, and sophisticated. While there is still some of the simplistic alien wars with bizarre lifeforms (usually for no reason), the majority of sci-fi writing today is for an educated, adult audience that includes exploration of societal organization and interpersonal relationships in addition to the standard advances in physics, biology, medicine, electronics, and computers. The main character of the show is Frank Poole, a former astronaut who was killed in the first book of the series. He is revived in the year 3001 and finds himself in a world that is vastly different from the one he remembers. Poole is a curious and adventurous character who is eager to explore the galaxy and discover new life forms.is full of libels against religion in general and Christianity in particular. One wild idea is that a future pope (Pius XX) will renounce his faith due to the "space monoliths," release the records of the Inquisition and thereby cause the collapse of Christianity. This idea is possibly a sign of a mental hardening of the arteries. No way, Mr. Clarke. The Inquisition is old hat. No one today gives a damn about it except a few historians. And a lot of people think it was a hoot--thanks to Monty Python. Chekhov's Gun: In 2010, as the Leonov is leaving Earth orbit, the Captain comments that they're passing the new Chinese space-station, and Floyd muses to himself that there's some international suspicion regarding its function, especially as the UN Space Committee's repeated requests for an inspection have been refused. As it later turns out, it's not a space-station at all — it's a spaceship, the Tsien, which they plan to use to get to Discovery first. Even their rivals are impressed by the sheer audacity of them building the thing in plain sight. The Space Odyssey Series is a series of novels written by Arthur C. Clarke, which takes a philosophical look at many Speculative Fiction Tropes, such as Precursors, Intelligent Computers, space travel and humankind's place in the universe.
