About this deal

The Vodafone 5G Mobile Hotspot is a highly capable 5G mobile broadband device that strikes a good balance between price and functionality. The Vodafone deal was an amazing bargain. You’d struggle to buy a basic 4G hotspot for this price, and the performance difference is considerable, both from the mobile data and WiFi 6.

With me so used to phones and their pre-fitted inaccessible batteries, it didn’t occur to me that this would arrive without the battery inside. Embarrassingly, I, therefore, spent about an hour wondering why the device would not take a charge or boot up properly. The antenna must be mounted on the roof of your vehicle. If the standard antenna is too large for your available roof space, we also offer a slim 4G/5G 2×2 external antenna that’s suitable for smaller vehicles. Which ZTE routers work with Maxview’s external antenna? Like all types of ZTE router, the ZTE MC801A router uses a TS9 connector. Maxview’s antenna uses an SMA connector, so you’ll need to use an adaptor to attach the router to the antenna. We include an adaptor with each of our external antenna kits.

PS No Service Restart Set

Beyond that, the Vodafone 5G Mobile Hotspot also has a 4,500mAh battery, which Vodafone claims offers up to eight hours of life (or possibly up to 8.5 hours – the company has said both). Either way, that’s a lot of life, and enough to keep your gadgets connected all day. It's a directional antenna (advertised as 65 degree horizontal beam) so I can point it in the general direction of the mast I want to connect to. This should both improve RSRP and increase SINR by attenuating unwanted signals

Alternatively, find an antenna installer to mount and set up your antenna. They’ll be able to set up your antenna in the best position for optimum internet performance. This is the only 5G mobile broadband option on Vodafone, though there are slower 4G options, or if you’re after home broadband there’s the Vodafone GigaCube 5G, which supports up to 64 simultaneous connections and has two Ethernet ports, but requires mains power. With the device powered up, setting it up is reasonably simple using the touch screen. The hotspot automatically recognises the SIM, and there were no APN settings to input. To confirm - this is not a "data SIM" (or Mobile Broadband) but a "phone SIM". Is this an issue? I know that EE limits you to 12 tethered devices, but wasn't there that Ofcom thing which meant that the SIMs should be device agnostic? Surely I should at least be able to get a connection? The 4,500mAh battery should keep the data flowing for up to 8 hours, depending on usage. Technical Specification I am not able to get 5G in my office, so most of my testing was done on 4G. I have also compared speeds with my Pixel 6 phone and the Netgear NBK752 Orbi 5G WiFi 6 Mesh System
