A true first edition with this title NOT listed in the list ot titles on the copyright page which states 'Babar's Cousin: That Rascal Arthur' (1948) as the last title and 6 previous titles (not listed is 'The ABC of Babar' (1934) for some reason) by Jean de Brunhoff. The first adventure in the Folio Society editions of ‘The Magic Faraway Tree’ series, Enid Blyton’s The Enchanted Wood features Jonathan Burton’s enchanting illustrations and a new introduction by Michael Morpurgo. Lovely first printing of the second Babar book, published only a year after the elephant's first adventure. A minor quibble, elephants live in a matriarchy, so not only is this not educational its actively uneducational :P .First French-language edition (published during WWII in the US) of Jean de Brunhoff's final Babar title, in which Babar makes the long trip to enlist Father Christmas's help. Babar, following his mother's murder at the hands of white hunters, blithely follows their path back to the white city.
