About this deal

tele zooms cover a slightly extended 70 to 200mm range and include VR (Nikon’s image stabilisation system). Although this can't do anything about subject movement, it should greatly expand the usability of the lens in marginal lighting conditions. If I was working in nasty, dirty areas, I'd forget the cap, and use an uncoated 67mm Tiffen UV filter instead. This is only my opinion since i do not want to spoon feed people subjects and mostly i tend to follow realism over expression, i want people to see and choose the appropriate subject in a photo.

Be sure to accurately read through all the assigned characters (letters and numbers) for all the related lenses. When used on a DX camera, it gives angles of view similar to what a 105-300mm lens gives when used on an FX or 35mm camera. I'd rather have a 70-200 that I won't hesitate to put into my backpack instead of the one which doubles as an exercise weight. The 70-200/4 is a fantastic lens though, I never felt like there was a limiting factor in its resolving power. There is quite a bit of loss of contrast with the TC-20E III, similarly to what you would see with other lenses, which is expected.

I hope Nikon does not follow the ridiculous telescoping (short/fat) design of the Canon RF 70-200/4, which does not allow use of a tripod mount or a TC.And the same is true for the Nikon 70-200mm f/4G VR – the TC-14E II works extremely well, making it a 98-280mm f/5.

There is no way for me to provide any quantitative data, because it would require a complex setup that involves machines shaking the camera in a certain manner and direction. Consistently sharp at 1/15sec, and impressive sharpness, if not 100% of exposures, a stop or so slower than that. The Sony a9 III is the world's first full-frame mirrorless camera to feature a global electronic shutter with simultaneous readout. ED VR II vs AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f/4G ED VR compared review, however, I’d recommend both the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.The Z cameras have an upcoming firmware release in September that should optimize speed - and ultimately they may be faster. Vignetting was also good, with the FX bodies showing maybe two-thirds of a stop wide open at 70mm, a full stop at 200mm. even with portraits as with the excellent image of Amadou, this new 70-200 f4 VR is going to be an awesome lens. In any case, you should be using this lens in AF-C mode most of the time since small changes in subject or camera distance – especially at the 200mm end – can result in noticeable shifts in the critical focus plane.

It doesn’t extend when focusing or zooming, it’s weather sealed, equipped with a silent wave motor, and the latest generation of Nikon’s vibration reduction system – supposedly good for up to four stops. I don't know the Nikkors but the Canon 70-300 L IS has some field curvature and rather sucks IME compared to any of the other EF 70-200/4s and I've used every one.I also worry that it might follow the form of the other f4 "S" lenses and have a lock and extending barrel which is something I'd rather not see. Unfortunately, because of distance limitations, I was not able to put the setup through my Imatest lab (which I took care of later, so I will reassess the performance of my telephoto lenses later this year), so I had to resort to simpler evaluations. Moreover, I'm certain both RSS and Kirk will offer alternative solutions which may be both better and less expensive. In less than ideal lighting conditions though (especially indoors), AF speed and accuracy did suffer visibly more, with some loss of contrast.
