About this deal

The majority of the album was recorded at Sarm East Studios in London, with additional work done at Abbey Road, Townhouse, RAK and Good Earth studios. In terms of what’s on the SDE-exclusive blu-ray audio, it very much mirrors what we did with the best-selling (and now sold out) blu-ray audio of Tears For Fears’ The Hurting. Double CD of the show, presented in a deluxe 6 panel fold out sleeve with accompanying 8 page booklet.

In 2004, a two-disc deluxe reissue including previously unreleased outtakes and early demos and a live performance of the album from 1982 was released by Neutron Records. Certified gold in the US, it went platinum in the UK where four singles reached the Top 20; " Tears Are Not Enough", " Poison Arrow", " The Look of Love" and " All of My Heart", which Pitchfork named the best New Pop song ever recorded.Sheffield’s finest, ABC, were back in their hometown for a very special anniversary show which marked exactly 40 years to the day since the album was released on the 21 st June 1982.

Some of the founding members of the later record label ZTT Records and the band The Art of Noise collaborate in the production of the album. Lexicon of Love contains their biggest hit Look of Love, along with a whole host of others which will rapidly grow on you if not heard before. Supporting SDE with these initiatives is leading to similar collaborations with labels/artists and we are keen to bring your more in the near future! This is a really good LP for turning up loud and blowing away the cobwebs so it's a thumbs up from this reviewer.

In The Encyclopedia of Popular Music, Colin Larkin awarded the "superb" album 5 stars (outstanding).

Lead vocalist Martin Fry said that they had wanted to fuse the attitude of punk and the sophistication of disco. surround sound Blu-ray remixes by Steven Wilson, as well as a remastered vinyl edition of the original mix, was released in August 2023. Retrospectively, AllMusic found Horn's production to be "dense and noisy, but frequently beautiful", while "the group's emotional songs gave it a depth and coherence later Horn works (. A point of detail: the blu-ray in the 4LP vinyl box offers the promo videos (including Mantrap) – these don’t feature on the SDE version. So glad I did as not only is there the original LoL but rare stuff and live tracks which on the whole are amazing.Released by Neutron Records on 21 June 1982, it entered the UK Albums Chart at number one, also topping the New Zealand and Finnish charts.

Poison Arrow" kept the blood circulating during the bitter winter of early 1982, before third single "The Look of Love" became their biggest hit.My wife and I listened to it in the car on a long journey and it is still as good if not better now as it was more than a quarter of a century ago. Decoding the Dolby Atmos mix requires a Dolby Atmos-certified soundbar or a Dolby Atmos-compatible AV Receiver/Amp. All four Steven Wilson mixes are previously unreleased and an instrumental version of the album is entirely unheard (and fascinating! While he has denied that it is a concept album, [14] The Lexicon of Love features recurrent themes, including heartache and the struggle to make meaningful connections. In 2009, ABC (with Fry as its sole member) performed the entire album at the Royal Albert Hall in London, accompanied by the BBC Concert Orchestra and conducted by Dudley.
