So this speaker sounds a little louder than the Boombox 2 when they are both playing at 80% volume… but its bass is just as strong as the Boombox 2. IPX7 waterproof and portable, the powerful Boombox 2 speaker pumps out massive sound all day and all night. However, it takes almost 4 hours to charge from an empty battery, which may require some extra planning before use.

That said, if you're looking for a similarly-sized speaker with a graphic EQ and additional presets, check out the Sony SRS-RA5000 instead. Bass figures prominently here, no matter what you’re playing, but we came away impressed with how good it was at background tunes when we played some late night jazz at lower volumes while sitting outside at night. It comes with customizable RGB lights and is compatible with Sony's Fiestable app to access extra party features and effects. There's no harm in using the JBL Boombox 1or 2 while it is connected to a power source all the time. Nonetheless… if you’re thinking about pickup the Boombox 3, or upgrading from the Boombox 2 or original boombox… lets see what the Boombox 3 is all about.And personally, I do feel that this makes life a little easier cause its easier to replace this cable if anything happens to it… or if you go to a friend’s house and you need to charge your speaker, chances are… they will might have one of these cables. Nonetheless, we’re going to jump into a soundtest… all of these speakers are playing at 75% volume, both the Boombox 3 and Boombox 2 are playing with their EQ’s and the Original boombox is playing while in its indoors EQ. The only thing that you want to keep in mind about the cylindrical design about this speaker is that if you throw it into the trunk of your car… you’re going to have to secure it somehow…. The company thinks its tuning and audio engineering makes it sound great in both environments, negating the need to toggle between them. The Ultimate Ears can get louder than the JBL, with signifianctly fewer compression artifacts at max volume, resulting in cleaner sounding audio when the volume is maxed out.

The JBL has a better-balanced sound profile and has slightly fewer compression artifacts present at max volume. With the JBL Boombox 2 from the brand JBL they are definitely welcome at any party, because they have with their sound system a unique speaker that fits perfectly everywhere not only with good bass and sound but with a very sleek camouflage look. Simply press the Connect+ button on your first boombox then press the Connect+ button on the nearby Boombox to connect. It can play stereo content without downmixing it to mono, resulting in an immersive-sounding soundstage. While both speakers have fairly neutral sound profiles, the PartyBox gets louder with less compression at max volume.

JBL Boombox 2 also features a built-in powerbank to keep your devices charged so the music never stops. Now looks wise, the boombox 3 now has that huge JBL Logo on the front which I know some people just aren’t a huge fan of… but that’s neither here nor there. While it's slightly larger than the Sony, it's battery-powered and has a built-in carrying handle making it more portable. It has a fairly well-balanced sound profile, although it lacks a bit of low-bass, and doesn't produce as deep a bass as the next-generation JBL Boombox 3.

From backyard barbecues to weekend road trips, JBL Boombox 2 brings it with monstrous bass, bold design and an incredible 24 hours of play time. but more importantly, this speaker can be connected to 2 devices at the same time so that you and a friend can both be DJ, and this speaker has zero latency across the board when watching movies or videos on your phone whether you using an iPhone or an android device. The acoustics of the interior spaces have a significant impact on the sound, so it is very important to manage the acoustics of the studio!

But thanks to its mostly fabric wrapped body, the Boombox 3 is going to have no problem standing up to constant abuse either from rolling around in your trunk, from bumps, or from scrapes. There’s also a Partyboost button for linking the Boombox 2 with other JBL speakers to output the same audio. Motley Crue’s Kickstart My Heart is a crowd-pleaser, but the head-banging guitar riffs came through nicely with the emphatic vocals. It also has a longer-lasting battery life of almost 30 hours from a single charge, and it's better built.

It also offers a longer-lasting battery life, though this can depend on your usage, and your experience may vary.
