The Cornice III jacket is constructed with a durable and waterproof Gore-Tex fabric, which provides superior protection against rain, wind, and snow.Never felt too hot as both the fleece and the jacket are breathable, so no sweat build up when exercising. PS their Explorer Ridge boots fell apart in the same time scale although I admit to wearing the boots more often than I wore the lacket! As if the lifetime and value for money wasn't good enough, when I replaced the old one I found that the new one had a number of improvements and cost less than its predecessor. It offers excellent wind protection, without the stuffy feeling you sometimes get walking uphill in waterproof garments.

Great product, does what it says on the adverts , not what some PR person dreams up and production fails to meet.My only gripes and the reason for the loss of a star are a very poor hood which flops about without a stiffened peak and after 2-3 years of putting the jacket in and taking it out of a rucksack most days the material at the back of the jacket over the top of the draw cord starts to wear out hence the need for a replacement jacket. However, the other 2 pockets are usually full of gear that I need for working, so I had hoped that these pockets are a bit bigger than they are - they are just so ok. It will start undoing from the bottom or as with the last jacket it ripped the zipper from the fabric.

Three pockets (including a purpose-placed zipped map pocket, easily accessible without unzipping the jacket) give you ample room for your essentials. The hood seems large, but has draw strings so can be adjusted and a woollen hat could be worn under. Made from Adelaide 2-Layer GORE-TEX®, it's completely waterproof and windproof, yet light enough to be comfortable even when you're trekking long distances.Nevertheless as a Gore Tex lined, rather than a coated garment, the waterproofing qualities should be better than many. Having extra long sleeves is also good because you can keep your hands inside; the Velcro fastening will keep them out of the way when needed.
