About this deal

While playing video with audio within a tab…the audio drops out completely, across the entire device.

I also have to admit: Even though it doesn’t appear on the specs, I really like the LED battery indicator. Trademarks: Lenovo, ThinkPad, IdeaPad, ThinkCentre, ThinkStation and the Lenovo logo are trademarks of Lenovo. With all the ports and connectors you'll ever need, the IdeaPad 5i Chromebook 14" accommodates virtually any peripheral with its audio jack, USB 3. Stream content at Full-HD with the IdeaPad 5i Chromebook's 14-inch IPS display, featuring narrow three-sized bezels so you get more screen, and an enhanced Waves-certified user-facing stereo speaker system with built-in amplifier for fuller, louder, and crystal-clear audio. The included Snapdragon processor won’t be as punch as the 12th Gen i3 in the Lenovo 5i, but it will provide excellent battery life. Even after two weeks of using the Lenovo IdeaPad 5i Chromebook, this little laptop continues to surprise me. This provides a total of six cores, split between two P-cores and four E-cores, helping to give the IdeaPad 5i Chromebook an excellent all-round performance. An enhanced Waves-certified speaker system with built-in amplifier provides rich, crystal-clear audio.

Connect to high-speed peripherals with the USB ports, and send data wirelessly between devices using Bluetooth. With an anodized aluminium top cover and embossed pattern, it’s a stylish companion for play, work, or study. The 300 nits of brightness worked well enough indoors but quickly becomes a hindrance if you work outside or in a bright environment. With the combination of an Intel Core i3-1115G4 processor and 8GB RAM, web browsing is blazing fast. Another foible I arrived at regularly was that many external devices, such as keyboard fobs, external Bluetooth controllers, and so forth, either do not work at all, or only work after a significant amount of setup, which takes significantly away from the plug and play appeal that one might expect to find. The Lenovo IdeaPad 5i Chromebook, at first glance, carries the same appearance as the non-ChromeOS variant of this laptop, with a good-looking grey chassis. The idea of “Chrome is Cheaper” fails as soon as it begins by defaulting to hardware specs that are less than sufficient to do it justice. All laptop surfaces are plastic (though the lid at least looks like metal) and flex can be found across both the display lid and lower chassis. The laptop relies on simple gray exterior plastics with a contrasting strip of matte gray to liven up the look. And here’s the kicker: I was on Wi-Fi 6 in a detached shed that’s 50 feet and several walls away from my home router.

In day-to-day tasks and in a suite of synthetic benchmarks, the Lenovo IdeaPad 5i Chromebook proved to be a nippy performer. But given the higher than expected numbers from the latest Pentium processor, I figured to make an exception. With many laptops weighing three pounds or less, it’s something that you are going to notice immediately upon picking it up.I also noticed the touchpad is significantly offset towards the left in an effort to keep it centered below the spacebar.

One core concept within today’s Chrome OS is that it brings users the ideas and applications they use the most (web access, office apps, etc), and pairs those with many of the possibilities that come from using the Android platform – but it also breaks down in a number of critical ways that make me question the usability of the Chromebook concept for most serious users (any maybe many casual users as well). Google also doesn’t provide an easy way to see the storage, RAM, CPU, and other specifications of your Chromebook. As opposed to offering any extras such as a touchscreen or two-in-one functionality, the Lenovo IdeaPad 5i Chromebook serves up a conventional laptop experience with a lot to like about it. In short: while having an Android subsystem is useful for many things, it’s not something that can be relied on in force, or something you should depend on for a specified usage without checking. All our products are covered by a manufacturer's warranty unless stated otherwise on the listing (usually under the conditions tab).As my typical use case is running Chrome and a few web apps, my battery results are probably on the higher end of what to expect. Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5i Gen 8 14 Intel 13th Generation Intel® Core i5-13420H Processor E-cores up to 3. Google might’ve killed Stadia, but gaming Chromebooks are still a thing—and Lenovo’s IdeaPad 5 Gaming Chromebook proves they’re worth your time. It's powered by an Intel® Core™ i5 processor that comes with Iris® Xe graphics, so it's got plenty of horsepower.
